We got the news this morning that we most likely won’t be going home for Christmas. It was hard to hear that and I did have a couple of good cries when I learned that her ANC had dropped to 34.
We had been prepared as we knew that the delay we had before this admission would put us close to not being home so we did have a back up plan. It was just so hard after hoping and praying to be home for Christmas that we found out we wouldn’t be.
I know Christmas is more than a certain day or a special gift… we’ve been so very blessed this year and we are so very thankful for the gifts we have already received. We’ll be having our Christmas next weekend instead so that we can all celebrate and open gifts together.
The kids will have a few things to open on Christmas and they can look forward to opening even more next weekend. Shyanne doesn’t really understand Christmas yet, although she has been enjoying the new toys she’s been receiving. A big ‘thank you’ to all those who have donated toys to the hospital and all those who have purchased things off of our wishlist to help make this Christmas a little extra special.
We thank you all for praying but we know that God has a plan and a reason for not sending us home yet. There is always a bigger picture and we may never see that picture but we have to trust in His vision.
The important thing is that Shyanne is doing well despite her extremely low counts and she hasn’t had any issues from this other than being a little fussier than normal. She is happy and enjoying life although she has been making it clear that she is ready to go ‘bye-bye’ and she wants ‘da-da’, ‘Ana’, and ‘Bubba’. She tries to escape every chance she can get … it’s a good thing she can’t open the door or she’d probably sneak out.
We pray that you all have a very blessed Christmas weekend and that you take an extra minute or two and thank God for another year with all of those that you love. Give everyone an extra hug and make sure that they know how much they mean to you because as we’ve learned this year, things can change in the blink of an eye and we never know what tomorrow may hold.
Continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as well as all the other families that must be apart during this holiday. We love you all!
Also I want to let everyone know that my phone has been acting up a bit. When I got my phone this morning I had to connect to the internet before it would work and then I had a ton of texts and messages come through… I’ll try to get back to everyone as soon as I can. We love you all!
