Just another boring day other than a couple of line occlusions … one was because I was tickling her and she was laughing and squirming and somehow got her line kinked up. Nothing major happened though which is a good thing.
She did get up super early to play but went back to sleep for a bit. Last night I think I might have gotten 5 hours? of sleep… I’m not really sure but I’m glad to get any thing more than what I had been getting.
Her numbers continue to go down with her ANC at 54. Her platelets were at 20 and hemoglobin was a 7.1 which is very close to needing a transfusion. The plan is to repeat labs on Monday morning unless we see a need for them sooner.
She still hasn’t pooped… this is not totally unusual for her but it is a bit worrisome as the pain medication can cause constipation and we don’t want her to go through that. She had another dose of Miralax and will probably get another today unless she goes before they bring it.
She gets very excited when her food comes but then she doesn’t eat much at all… yesterday she ate about 4 ounces total and drank about 4 ounces of juice and nurses two times. She usually eats better than that at one sitting but her weight has been doing ok so they aren’t too terribly concerned with that yet.
We did FaceTime with daddy for a bit while he was giving haircuts at home. We were going to FaceTime later on but it got late and we got sleepy so we weren’t awake when he was ready.
I thought about going downstairs yesterday but she was a bit restless and kept waking up and crying if she didn’t see me so I stayed put other than grabbing a cup of ice from the Nutrition Room. Some people worry because I don’t leave but it’s always so crowded downstairs that I really don’t want to chance bringing something back… a Frosticcino is not worth catching something to me.
The COVID cases in Florida have skyrocketed and the only way to really protect yourself is by keeping away from everyone else. You pretty much need to treat everyone as though they may be carrying it and use precautions with everything you do. It’s a very scary thing to be living through right now especially when I have so many people depending on me to stay healthy and to keep them healthy.
Not being home is stressful enough and not being there during a pandemic is horrible. I do worry about every little sniffle they get and I just have to keep praying that God will put a hedge around my family and friends to keep them all safe.
The past year has changed us all in so many ways. Some changes are for the good and some are not so good but we are learning to adapt… well most of us are. My kids don’t completely understand why we have been so restricted on everything right now but one day they’ll see that we were just trying to keep them safe.
Talking about change… It’s crazy to see how much some people have changed over the last five weeks. Some of the new staff here have definitely gained confidence and are no longer as uncertain of themselves and it shows… it’s amazing the change that a few weeks can bring.
Others have stayed the same and that’s a welcome thing too… most of the time.
We want to thank you all again for your continued prayers and please know that we love you all!
