It’s been busy for being the weekend. I did sleep in until almost 7:00 as I stayed up last night making a Caring Bridge Page for Shyanne.
I really like the site as it has many wonderful features. We can keep a lot of links in one spot to make them easier to find. They also have some features for meal trains and such … unfortunately some of the features aren’t available in our area but it’s really a helpful resource for anyone facing a medical crisis.
This morning I thought we had a revolving door as it seemed that people were constantly coming and going but we did get a lot accomplished before Daddy came for a visit. Shyanne had breakfast, a bath, a dressing change, and we had spoke to the doctors.
Her numbers are up enough that they’ll be stopping one of her IV medications and hopefully be transitioning the other one over to oral. The DME company also sent her supplies so that we’ll be ready for when we go home… yay!
I also finished her blanket I started yesterday and she loves it. We sent the clothes home with Daddy when he came to visit this morning. Shyanne love the chicken biscuit he brought and she was going to town on her potato wedges.
She’s been so much fun to watch the past few days. You can tell she is in learning mode as she is carefully inspecting her hands and everything around her. She is also experimenting with making different noises and sounds.
This afternoon has been pretty quiet. We had a video chat with Grandma and Aunt Angie, Uncle Ray, and Aunt Danielle and Aunt Jessica were there as well. We didn’t get to talk very long but it was nice to see them.
The pharmacy didn’t transition her meds over so she had to get hooked up to her IV for a little bit but then she was free again to play. She ate her favorite, a sweet potato, for dinner along with some peanut butter crackers and some apple juice.
They are drawing blood for labs and we should have the results back in a little bit. We’ve all got our fingers crossed that her counts have continued to rise so we can get out of here soon… we love our nurses and everyone but we are so ready to go home for a bit.
The nurses were talking about how happy and cute Shyanne is. She has won over all of the nurses who have come in contact with just as she does everyone who meets her. That little smile will pull you in before you know it’s happened.
We FaceTimed Daddy and the other kiddos. It’s so funny to watch how much she is learning… you can almost see the little wheels turning.
She kept turning the iPad and looking under it… she couldn’t figure out how Daddy got in it. Then she couldn’t find the rest of his body and it was bothering her but she’s just so darn cute with her expressions.
Here are the results we’ve been waiting on:
WBC 3.8 (down from 3.9)
HGB 8.3 (same)
HCT 24.3 (up from 23.8)
PLT 275 (up from 255)
ANC 452 (up from 366)
I’m not sure if the ANC is going to be high enough to get us home or not but we’ll find out tomorrow. They said before that 500 was usually the ‘magic number’ so we’ll see.
Hope you all have a good night! We love you all and thank you for everything!
